Before buying a home you may want to take the time
1. Get Approved for a loan, not pre-approved, know
how much you can comfortably afford. If you
find that perfect home, sellers are more apt to take
an offer from a buyer that they know HAVE the funds.
Pre-approval is just a bank saying, "yeah, we could probably lend
you the money", you need them to commit to "we Will lend you the money.
2. Consider what you want in a home and the location
you would like to live in. Realtors can not legally
steer you to any given area, so do the research ahead of time.
3. Make a priority list for your realtor on what you MUST have in your new home, and then
what you would just like to have. This will help the realtor to show you only the homes
that fit this criteria. Keep in mind when viewing a home what is fixable and what is a major
expense.
4. Nice homes don't stay on the market forever, if it is the right home for you then you need to
act on it. Your realtor will guide you through the purchase agreement.
Remember everything is negotiable!
